I couldn t put this book down It tells the history of the Monterey Peninsula based on the Carmel River, the only source of water for the entire area.I loved learning about how the towns of Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel sprang up It was all made possible by the railroad magnate, Crocker, who built a pipeline around the entire peninsula for his mega project, the Del Monte Hotel.If possible, this book made me even of a water Nazi, terribly worried about how we humans are misusing a precious r [...]
