I can t believe I have never reviewed this one I have checked it out so many times from my library and I have made many things from Richa s blog And I loved them all I really enjoy Indian food but there are just no good places near where I live Plus, my husband will not eat it under any circumstance Too bad for him So this book is perfect for me as I can make my own.Anyway, this one has so many great recipes from small plates and snacks yum, potato samosas , to veggie curries, lentils and bean, [...]

    2. I am SO grateful for this book Thank you so much Richa I don t know how I would manage if you hadn t done all the hard work of writing it I just wish it was longer, or there were books like it 3

    3. My life has changed so much A couple of years ago I never thought I d be reviewing a cookbook But I cook meals now for someone, and have grown to like all kinds of new foods in the process I especially love learning about and eating foods from around the world, and have discovered it is a great way to learn, celebrate, and interact with other cultures and people.First thing s first I m not a vegan, but I only cook vegetarian Anything calling for vegan butter here will be ghee, and alternative yo [...]

    4. I ve been a follower of Vegan Richa s blog for awhile and her recipes have always turned out great for me After checking this out from the library and making a couple things yellow lentils with spinach, baigan bartha eggplant , and dosas with masala potatoes, I had to get my own copy It s a wonderful Indian cookbook and I have several already because her recipes are simplified yet seem to taste just as good as the restaurant versions, which can be pretty heavy These recipes are much lighter, sin [...]

    5. Excellent I ve read this book cover to cover and made many recipes in it A great way to learn how to use Indian spices and to make your own spice concoctions The book is organized by breakfast, bean dahl and rice , main entres, desserts, and spice mixes There is a bread section for nan, crackers, roti, etc Some gluten free breads too Each recipe is broken down by how much time to expect to have to devote to making the dish I m not vegan, but I don t miss meat in any of Hingle s recipes Most all [...]

    6. Yay Fantastic cookbook. Some of my faves Potato Quinoa PattiesMarsala Lentils Chickpea CurryUnbelievable that I can get my American born husband who ate only chicken fingers and fries when I met him, who changed to veggie burgers shortly thereafter, to eat Indian food Really Italian was the most ethnic food he ate I m amazedGreat cookbook.

    7. Yes I grew up somewhere with a huge Indian population, so Indian food has always been part of my diet but the actual preparation was still a mystery to me This book is exactly what I needed it explains the spices you need, the geographical differences, even just what certain words mean And best of all, there are SO MANY LENTIL RECIPES I fucking love lentils So if you like lentils, cauliflower, chickpeas, and cooking with an absurd amount of spices, this book is absolutely for you And since India [...]

    8. I haven t made any of the recipes yet so not giving a rating, but would love to try some out in the future.

    9. Love this cookbook Pretty much everything I ve made has been really good and tasty Mostly gluten free or instructions for making recipes so Many can be made lower calorie if needed You do want to buy some Indian spices ahead of time in order to make many of these I suggest deciding on 2 3 recipes, buy the spices for those and make them to make sure you like the taste of this food before you invest in spices I found most at a local Indian grocery store and ordered some online.

    10. I highly recommend this book if you are a dedicated cook this book is not for those casually dipping their toes into cookbooks or veganism The recipes aren t easy, but they re so worth it this is an amazing introduction into Indian cuisine and the best addition to my cookbook collection in years If you have the time and inclination and spice resources , you will love this photographed filled treasure trove of veganized delights.

    11. This book is packed with fantastic dishes and easy to follow recipes It s Vegan, yes Doesn t matter the diet, what matters is the quality of the food This book deserves every one of it s 5 stars.

    12. I love Richa s recipes They are usually quite simple and super tasty I make her pad thai all the time So good and costs way less than buying it from a restaurant that may end up putting meat in your vegan food.

    13. Made my mouth water I will need to modify to eliminate added oil, but these are wonderful recipes The ingredient lists are long, but mostly spices I am looking forward to trying Spiced Roasted Tofu and Vegetables, Spinach Rice and Black eyed Peas, and Raita.

    14. I have always been a big fan of Indian cuisine I loved how it was very vegetable heavy and you had lots of different options for meals without meat But as I went vegan I soon discovered how many of those vegetarian dishes were full of dairy So I was happy when I found the food blog Vegan Richa Not only did she have some authentic Indian dishes, all vegan, she also had some fun Western fusion dishes So when Richa Hingle said she was releasing a cookbook all about Indian food, I knew I had to get [...]

    15. I dallied about getting this cookbook since most of the fun of cooking is not following recipes per se But I figured as long as I m living where all these particular ingredients are readily available and all the recipes are vegan, I could probably be adventurous and learn a new trick or two The recipes are adapted to be accessible for people who are busy and not wanting to spend all their time in the kitchen Likewise, the ingredients are thoughtfully considered and fairly easy to acquire or mak [...]

    16. I am not a vegan, or even a vegetarian, yet, but at home we are cooking with less and less animal products I checked this book out of our library, and after I and my partner made three recipes from it, and bookmarked about eight others, I went ahead and bought it This book is perfect for my needs and the way I cook now, in 2016 It has lots of dal recipes, which I love it veganizes a lot of traditional meat dishes with tofu, tempeh and other proteins like chickpea tofu it gives me options for swi [...]

    17. This book has become a trusted favorite I really enjoy the personal memories and family stories Richa shares The book is well organized, has lots of information about ingredients, and has a great variety of recipes She has a knack for streamlining recipes and making them easy and accessible for beginning cooks and those intimidated by Indian food Every time I cook from this book, I m always amazed that something so good came out of my kitchen because I don t really think of myself as some great [...]

    18. WOW This cookbook is a treasure There is a wealth of recipes and ideas, and I love to see the sheer amount of colorful vegetables and vegan proteins in here I personally adore Indian cooking and finally have a true resource to experience a HUGE variety of textures and tastes I love that most of these recipes are gluten free or can easily be made gluten free, as that is an issue for my family If you are looking for a HUGE variety of healthful recipes, gorgeous full color photographs that will hav [...]

    19. Richa makes it possible to make great Indian foodRicha s recipes work, she earns a bonus for covering the major dietary restrictions Beyond the recipes you get a glimpse of Indian culture, spices, traditions, geography and just enough information about Richa herself to feel connected The work she has done to transform recipes which rely heavily on dairy to vegan successes is amazing I am grateful that she decided to share her talent, her passion, her heart and of course her food.

    20. Beautiful recipes I like that so many are gluten free and that they show the time it takes to make the meal I ve cooked 3 recipes that were great and can t wait to make other recipes in the book.I generally eat low Fodmaps low fructose limited lentils, chickpeas, no garlic no onion I ve been able to make the recipes Fodmap friendly and the meals still taste great using canned chickpeas, soaking lentils overnight, cooking with whole garlic cloves removing at end cooking big chunks of onion remov [...]

    22. Lots of instruction including options for using time saving appliances such as the microwave and pressure cooker make this particularly useful for those of us pressed for time Most recipes use easy to find ingredients, although those of us who live in small towns might need to mail order or stock up in a shopping trip to a larger city Lavish illustrations make it easy to visualize results.

    23. One of my absolute favorite vegan cookbooks No My favorite vegan cookbook My copy is filled with post its I have already cooked a lot of these recipes and everything varies from just plain good to incredibly delicious And still so many to try.

    24. Everything in this book looks amazing and has clear instructions Most exciting for me There are a lot of recipes for tofu not my favorite , but almost every recipe includes suggestions for variation Chickpeas forever Least exciting The dessert section, but, that s okay The rest is amazing

    25. A fun flavorful cookbook, the required ingredients and sometimes general instructions can daunt beginning cooks carry on with fortitude and, if available, someone by your side who knows something about the varieties of Indian cooking and flavor profiles.
