    1. Caught up in a scandal of her father s making, Lady Jane Fitzsimmons is now an outcast in the society that once prized her So when Lord Benjamin Marworth offers to help redeem her good name, she leaps at the chance.Too bad his plan requires her very public demise This was an ok if predictable read I couldn t give it than 3 stars because the plot was somewhat ridiculous and unbelievable I did enjoy the spy bit, even though it was rather far fetched As for the rest of the plot, the same old story [...]

    2. Intrigue abounds in this novel that combines politics, spy craft, and budding romance Society s beliefs the propriety of the ton at the time really shine through LeMense s eloquent writing heightens this, while also allowing her characters personalities to shine through This novel was pricelessly comical and endlessly enjoyable LeMense also created a case of whodunit that kept me guessing The true culprit doesn t become apparent until the very last moment.I found that the story was a bit slow at [...]

    3. Rating 4.5 Stars Originally published on book blog Will Read For Feels I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I just love finding new authors to love, and Julie LeMense definitely makes it to my follow list I found myself tearing through her first novel, Once Upon a Wager, and immediately jumping into her second novel, Once Upon a Scandal, which is a companion to the first but can n [...]

    4. I have been looking forward to reading Jane s story after being introduced to her in the wonderful Once Upon a Wager , Julie LeMense s debut romance novel What a story Jane s character develops from tragic victim to conquering heroine, with grace, humor and spirit Her hero, Benjamin, is slow to recognize that Jane is the woman for him, but when he does, he declares his love in a grand and touching style. There are some interesting side characters, a villain or two she keeps you guessing , fascina [...]

    5. Not as good as the first one in the series, but Lemense still confirms that she is a writer of immense talent She seamlessly inserts little fascinating tidbits of real historical events and people, making for authentic reading I do like both protagonists and the secondary characters are appealing also As the author requested in the intro, one must suspend disbelief a bit to truly enjoy the book Frankly, I can t see why Jane had to take on the identity of her French cousin, when she could have a [...]

    6. One of the better Regencies I ve read lately, this one features a mystery, an old scandal, and of course romance The heroine is intelligent trust me, many of them aren t , and there were so many red herrings that I was guessing who the villain might be right up until the last few chapters Good fun

    7. Now this is an historical romance with a difference and I throughly enjoyed it The heroine Jane does not follow your normal trope It is true that she is beautiful and it is also true that she does not know how beautiful she is However, she is not rich, nor does she come with a pristine reputation quite an unusual circumstance for the entirely proper and very staid person that she is Five seasons and nary a romantic nibble, not even before the scandal that robbed her of her future That is, of cou [...]

    8. 9. I ve been trying for so long to find a good historical spy romance but every book I ve come across hasn t worked for me for one reason or another. This one, though It s wonderful There are so many things I love about this book the way it ties to the author s previous one, but it isn t necessary to read it first which, admittedly, I didn t Because of this, the story starts off immediately There s no meandering around for the first few chapters.I also love the two main characters Jane is great, she [...]

    10. Seasoned readers of historical romance are all too familiar with the dreaded Sopho Slump, where an author that showed tremendous promise in her debut novel follows up with a dud Well, FEAR NOT, fans of Once Upon A Wager having been fortunate enough to get my hands on an ARC in exchange for an honest review, I can report that Ms LeMense s second novel, Once Upon A Scandal, is even fabulous than her first This is unquestionably the best historical romance I have read since the publication of Juli [...]

    11. In my review for the previous book in the series Once Upon a Wager I mentioned that I would love to read about some of the secondary characters, namely Benjamin Marworth and Jane Fitzsimmons Imagine my delight then when I discovered that they are the focus of this book Benjamin is just adorable and Jane is a heroine who is not afraid to speak her mind It was great for Sophia to make a reappearance too Although this is the second book in the series, it is a standalone novel and makes sense witho [...]

    12. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I love the whole premise of this book Prim and proper Society women loses everything and agrees to be a spy I was alternately laughing and swooning yes, really , as the book went on I hadn t read the first book in the series, but I feel like it s not necessary There s a few paragraphs dedicated to describing the events of the last book, but I don t feel like I missed anything by not reading the first I truly enjoyed Jane, but she su [...]

    13. I could not put this book down Jane is a heroine for the ages I loved her thought process and spirit The scene where she is drunk, a classic Wonderful romance between Jane and Benjamin A man like Benjamin falling in love with a woman like Jane just thinking about it makes me smile.Excellent secondary characters Love, love, love Lady Sophia This book is written in a thoughtful, intelligent manner It incorporated period information, such as Fordyce s Sermons or mentions of actual events and people [...]

    14. Absolutely loved this book It was quite captivating actually I thought it was going to be a little cliche, however it was not Benjamin was the type of hero you want to believe in but there is that little hesitation to fully trust where his story will take him Jane was a good hero, and believable in her trials There was a twist in the story that I did not entirely see coming I was a bit taken back and that just added to the over all story Actually there were two twists, the second one, once it ca [...]

    15. Jane s father, one of the villains in the previous book, is found murdered and with his death there is nothing left for her to live on An indecent proposal for carte blanc from one of her father s cronies is the last straw It is here where Benjamin, Lord Marworth offers her a chance to re invent herself He is part of a government group who are working to uncover spies residing within the government He offers Jane the chance to die and come back as her cousin. As the masquerade continues, both are [...]

    16. Charming romance story I did not read the first book about this society, which I will soon remand as this story has convinced me of the writers skill I truely enjoyed the story of Jane She is that awkward girl that lives inside many women, me in particular Yet she is brave and charming as well It was a delight to get a peek into her life and loves I commend her bravery and tact as I am not sure I could be so kind to some of those she had to deal with I give this story 4 out of 5 clouds. This prod [...]

    24. Loved the book Jane and Benjamin were so great together in their masquerade Absolutely loved the ending

    25. I read Once Upon a Scandal as part of a 5 romance anthology and found it quite entertaining The premise, upon which the book develops, is somewhat unique As each situation unfolds, the reader is led to the expected solution, only to find out that there is a subtle twist Since it s a Regency Romance, you know how it s going to end, but there was no way I even anticipated the solution that Benjamin, Lord Marworth and Lord Winchester would came up with.My only regret is that they did not reunite Ja [...]

    26. This isn t your typical regency romance How many people do you know that fake their death for a chance to start life with a clean slate That s what Benjamin Alden, Viscount Marworth, offers Miss Jane Fitzsimmons Only his motivation isn t as altruistic as he would have her believe Although this book was slow to start for me, it picked up steam and had me hooked for a good long while Watching Jane blossom as a widowed Frenchwoman was a joy I wanted out of the black moment and ending, but overall [...]

    27. I started this right after I read Once Upon a Wager and I think that might have been my mistake I was already annoyed with the push and pull in that book, and with the H who took seemingly forever to make up his mind about the h Then I discovered that the H in this book is basically the same He plans on keeping his distance from the h, using her for his purposes whatever they may be , and then hightailing out of her life after his mission is accomplished If you ve read Once Upon a Wager, you ll [...]

    28. In a lot of ways, Once Upon a Scandal is a typical romance She s beautiful and spirited he s sexy with secrets She, however, is dirt poor and shunned by most of her previous friends due to a her father s scandal and death He, while seemingly a rich playboy, is actually a domestic spy, keeping an eye on the rich and powerful and it s that bit of intrigue that makes the novel a step above ordinary for me Benjamin enlists Jane s help, and she, feeling like she really has nothing to lose, agrees Jan [...]
