    1. I admit to not even taking the time to read the blurb on this book when I requested it from Netgalley I saw that cover andI had no clue that this was a romance between old folks I even twisted several of my friends arms into requesting this book with me The thing ise old folk are around 46 47 years old That s my frigging age There was a comment made by the male main character Clint that said he was too old to get smexy times on the couch He needed a bed in order to do that Now I know this main c [...]

    2. Find all of my reviews at 52bookminimum Let me tell you a little story about this jerk who sends me pictures of sploosh worthy covers from NetGalley with messages like come on, go request this one, it ll be funnnnnnnn Then both she and myself end up approved only to find out the tattooed cowboy on the front was most definitely the sexiest thing about the book Payback s a bitch sometimes, though, because I ended up liking this than she who shall remain nameless Go figure shrug The basic premise [...]

    6. This is my second Freya Barker book and I loved it Her writing style is so down to earth and it s a refreshing change from all the fluffy stories I come across Her characters are just people, not glamour dolls. This one is packed full of suspense and really shows the family bond their group of friends has developed with each other Not a selfish soul in the bunch Beth s son, Dylan, gets mixed up with some pretty nasty characters and ends up leaving his son, Max, with Beth to take care of and goes [...]

    7. I just took a wonderful trip back to Cedar Tree Freya Barker is a brilliant, creative, and freaking amazing writer.I love her stories I love her characters She delivers another great addition to the series.Upper Hand is Beth and Clint s story I know when I start to read a Freya Barker book, I am going on an adventure I get to laugh I get to cry I get family But most of all I get love.Beth is one of my favorite ladies of the Cedar Tree family She is strong and tough She tells it like it is Inside [...]

    8. Another great story in this series This one is about 2 stubborn hard headed people that deep down know they re right for each other, but just can t manage to take the 1st step And then add the foot in mouth syndrome and you think any kind of inkling of a relationship is just doomed.

    9. 4.5 starsAs the story opens, Clint is still in the hospital after being attacked at the end of Clean Lines Before his injury, Clint experienced one too many rejections from the strong willed and independent Beth after months of emotional push and pull, and he finally gave up and walked away He never expects to open his eyes after weeks in a coma to find her sitting at his bedside as he tries to piece together exactly what happened to get him to this point Beth requires ironclad control of her li [...]

    10. This is book five in the Cedar Tree series and it is hilarious, fast paced, romantic and very enjoyable I read this one without having read the earlier books in the series but that didn t spoil my enjoyment and I am now very eager to read the others.I wavered between 3.5 and 4 stars I thought it rambled a bit in places but I enjoyed all the characters and I liked the fact that the female lead Beth was in her forties, a tough cookie but vulnerable at the same time and I loved the way Clint kept p [...]

    11. Reviewing for Book Boyfriend Heaven This is the last book that I have for this series to read It revolves around Clint and Beth These characters get to experience everything that the others have gone through and the things that they will have to go through also All of these characters are there for each other and that makes these books feel like I am reading about a family, rather than individuals They interact and overlap and I am so excited to keep reading with each turn of the page or in my [...]

    12. A great continuation of the Cedar Tree series Clint and Beth are an awesome couple, even though he has trouble keeping his foot out of his mouth I loved the banter between the characters and the reoccurring characters in the series The suspense plot line is well thought out and paced Love this series and am anxious to read from this author.Upon listening to the audio version of the book, I was reminded what a great character Clint was While the suspense story is engrossing the man made me laugh [...]

    13. I love all of Freya s books and was very excited to read the latest installment of her Cedar Tree series Clint has always been a favorite character of mine and it was great to finally read his and Beth s story Clint is such a lovable guy even when he s acting like a macho idiot He means well but sometimes his brain is trailing too far behind his mouth and it gets him into trouble, especially with the equally fiery Beth Fireworks definitely abound in this story I love the excellent mix of romance [...]

    14. Mystery, intrigue, crime, danger, torture, family, friends, miscommunication, fights, charm, love only a few words to describe what happens in this story of two 46 year olds finding romance in Cedar Tree This is a book I would consider to be fantasy though written as contemporary romance with edge and a lot of action The relationship of Clint and Beth is not smooth sailing from the get go but they do move forward quickly once they decide to move in a romantic direction Having Beth s grandson to [...]

    15. When I read the first book in this series, I instantly fell in love with the authors writing style The characters are so relatable, it felt like you were witnessing a family member or neighbours story This fast became one of my favourite series.Upper Hand was no different The author created a story that proves Age is nothing but a number You are never too old to meet the love of your lifeClint and Beth are one of my favourite couples from Cedar Tree Both strong yet stubborn, flawed yet passionat [...]

    16. I fall in love with this series with each book I read I love that the author is able to create characters that are so relatable I love that they are so real The emotions were high in this story Beth and Clint have been dancing around each other for a year Clint is determined to clear the air and make her see that she belongs with him After Clint gets hurt helping Joe and Naomi, Beth realizes that she has been cheating herself by not acting on her attraction to him I loved the addition of Jeb, C [...]

    17. ripeforreader 201I was so excited for some Cedar Tree adventure and Freya did not disappoint with this book Full of non stop action with a little realization that it is okay to lean on your friends and love ones I am struggling to write this review as I am very worried about giving to much away, I hate spoiler reviews These characters grow in strength and understanding all while facing some pretty extreme challenges.Clint and Beth are nothing but explosive when they cross paths As we have gotte [...]

    18. Oh how I love Cedar Tree Each new book takes us back to the gang and we learn a little about everyone, even while focused on this particular books main characters I ve always enjoyed Beth and her ascerbic tongue and got a laugh from Clint s constantly saying the wrong thing despite best intentions Seeing their connection was fantastic Beth gives Clint an acceptance he hasn t had before, and Clint gives Beth a safe place to land I love Clint pushing Beth s boundaries, in and out of the bedroom T [...]

    19. I love this installment of the Cedar Tree series Clint and Beth are both wonderfully appealing characters Clint is a decent hardworking guy who has all the best of intentions but always seems to say the wrong thing Beth has been used to taking care of herself and her son without the help of other people She is attracted to Clint but has let his foot in mouth issue and her own fears of getting involved prevent her from taking a chance on Clint until she almost loses him.But all bets are off after [...]

    20. The first time I met Clint I thought two things that he was a fun background character who constantly put his foot in it, and that one of the women would kill him because of his chauvinism.A chauvinism that actually to my mind after getting to know him in his book was in a lot of the time, old fashioned charm a lot of women don t receive today, so when they do they don t see it as it s intended Anyway my review is not about Clints manners I ve read all Ms Barkers books from day one and feel like [...]

    21. ARC Kindle Copy for ReviewClint Mason has the habit of finding himself in trouble with the ladies when he speaks He has a dark side that even his Southern attitude will not help.Beth Franklin has always relied on herself When her son disappears after dropping off her grandson she is suddenly feeling out of control Fearing for her son safety, she has to learn to deal with help.It is not easy when person is Clint who has her on a rollercoaster of hot and cold emotions for the past year Can these t [...]

    22. More often than not, Clint Mason has his foot firmly wedged in his mouth, which tends to get him in plenty of hot water with the ladies Although his laid back good ole Southern charm does not fly far with the female population of Cedar Tree, the big burly contractor hides his dark side well. The only one Beth Franklin allows herself to rely on is Beth, and so far that has served her well Just when her son disappears after dropping his little guy off on her doorstep, her life seems to spiral out o [...]

    23. 3.5This is the first book I have ever read where the heroine is a grandma Beth and Clint are both in their late forties and have been dancing around each other for a while I wish I would ve read books in this series because I did feel a little lost at the beginning and I thought it started out a little slow but once this story got going there was suspense and drama with some pretty hot sexy scenes Beth wasn t my favorite heroine but I adored Clint Overall, I really enjoyed this story and will p [...]

    24. You ve heard how things get better with age like a good wine or a single malt well, I think that wee phrase so applies to the Cedar Tree series in both the books and the characters Upper Hand is Clint and Beth s story and what a wee corker it is When we were first introduced to Clint I thought he was just gonna be a nice guy with a hellish case of constant foot in mouth but I was fairly off base with that assumption Sure, he did have a habit of saying what sprang to mind without considering how [...]

    25. This is my second read of this book I adore the whole series I have read a few reviews of this book not all reviews are favourable I guess it really does come down to personal taste and perspective that determines whether or not someone likes a book This book is about a couple 46 yr olds who have both had some hard knocks in life and who are both trying to shield their hearts from hurt Beth is crusty grumpy at times quick to fly off the handle so their relationship develops with some sparks bum [...]

    26. DNF 24% too much going on with no substance There is so many things going on, and I am just not following Seems like a whole lot of info is missing to get the full story feel it could be great, but just didn t get there for me It is hard to keep up with the point of views not always clear as to whose head your in.

    27. I am happy to see there are Cedar Tree books bc it seemed like book 4 might have been the last I have to say this one is my least favorite of the series I dont know I fell for Clint and his good ol boy, often, misplaced Southern charm but Beth was not a pleasant woman And the storyline aside from them didnt grip me like the previous books Oh well, 3.5 stars.

    28. 4 starI was pulled right into this story The story has laughs, suspense, pain, murder, and heartbreak If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books s firstSlim To None Cedar Tree Series Book 1 Hundred To One Cedar Tree 2 Against Me Cedar Tree 3 Clean Lines Cedar Tree 4 This is Beth and Clint s story Clint is always sticking his foot in his mouth around the ladies of Cedar Tree Beth is no different Only problem is Clint wants Beth but can t get her to give him a chance Beth [...]

    29. I m not usually one that reads romance about older couples, but I enjoyed this one.Clint Mason is an older man pretty set in his ways He, also, seems to have foot in the mouth syndrome that gets him into trouble with the women in his town Beth Franklin is a very controlling, independent woman that refuses to let anyone help her When her son disappears, she has no choice but to rely on the one man that drives her insane Clint will do anything to keep Beth safe, but will he get to let go of the re [...]

    30. Really enjoyed this book as the characters were just a little older than me were fun sassy sexy too So many times it seems authors write about folks in their 40 s as old this author didn t But beyond that I liked the mystery I liked that the characters aren t perfect, nor do they have to be to find love friendship I liked the community of Cedar Tree I love that you can find love again all in all just a fun book that makes you feel good It is the 5th in the series but you can read it as a stand a [...]
