  • She Reads Truth: Holding Tight to Permanent in a World That's Passing Away Raechel Myers Amanda Bible Williams She wants faith, hope, and love She wants help and healing She wants to hear and be heard, to see and be seen She wants things set right She wants to know what is true not partly true, or sometimes true, or almost true She wants to see Truth itself, face to face But here, now, these things are all cloudy Hope is tinged with hurt Faith is shaded by doubt Lesser,She wants faith, hope, and love She wants help and healing She wants to hear and be heard, to see and be seen She wants things set right She wants to know what is true not partly true, or sometimes true, or almost true She wants to see Truth itself, face to face But here, now, these things are all cloudy Hope is tinged with hurt Faith is shaded by doubt Lesser, broken things masquerade as love How does she find something permanent when the world around her is always changing, when not even she can stay the same And if she finds it, how does she hold on She Reads Truth tells the stories of two women who discovered, through very different lives and circumstances, that only God and His Word remain unchanged as the world around them shifted and slipped away Infused with biblical application and Scripture, this book is not just about two characters in two stories, but about one Hero and one Story Every image points to the bigger picture that God and His Word are true Not because of anything we do, but because of who He is Not once, not occasionally, but right now and all the time Sometimes it takes everything moving to notice the thing that doesn t move Sometimes it takes telling two very different stories to notice how the Truth was exactly the same in both of them For anyone searching for a solid foundation to cling to, She Reads Truth is a rich and honest Bible filled journey to finally find permanent in a world that s passing away.

    1. I ve long been a fan of She Reads Truth their app, their reading plans, their Advent and Lent books, their beautifully designed social media graphics all incredible I preordered this one and was so excited to read it It s full of great stories from both Amanda and Raechel who take turns with chapters and there s so much Scripture woven throughout the book in a really intentional and thoughtful way, but I was a little lost on the main theme or focus of the book I guess if I had to say what it s a [...]

    2. Place your foot on shale, and it will crumble beneath you Grab a hold of a loose ledge, and your hand will slip But hold tight to the mountain itself, and it will hold you up And with that start and introduction, you know this book is full of encouragement and Truth of God s word If you are at all familiar with She Reads, you ll fully enjoy this book If you re not, I fully believe you still will love this book What a encouraging, deeply felt and vulnerable memoir from both Meyers and Williams Th [...]

    3. This book is not a directive to make your life better by reading your Bible every day This book is evidence that He gives life to dead things through the power of His Word Not once, not occasionally, but currently and all the time We don t hold tight because we ve figured this out We hold tight because He holds us God s Word When we turn its pages and take in its Truth, the very breath of God fills our lungs, our heart, our mind, our soul Whether we come to Him doubting, praising, weeping, laugh [...]

    4. I was surprised by how much I was impacted by this book I ve always enjoyed the She Reads Truth website, but was a little hesitant to start this book Throughout reading the book, several chapters brought me to tears while also pointing me to the unchanging truth found in Scripture I was extremely blessed and challenged by the authors vulnerability and insight into some of life s hardest topics.

    5. She Reads Truth Book tells the story of Raechel and Amanda who discovered through very different lives and circumstances, that only God and His Word remain unchanged as the world around them shifted and slipped away Their book is full of Biblical application and Scripture and is not just about two women but about one Hero and one Story As you read Raechel and Amanda s stories in She Reads Truth Book, you will find yourself in the pages You find your hardships, your situations, your struggles, yo [...]

    6. God s promises are permanent when the world s promises pass away God s covenant is permanent when our good intentions pass away God s love is permanent when our good behavior passes away God s mercy is permanent when our bodies pass away God s hope is permanent when our plans are passing away God s sovereignty is permanent when our power is passing away The gospel is permanent when our belief is passing away The permanent is there for you Whatever this temporary life has looked like, and whateve [...]

    7. I was not familiar with this ministry and I m still not I wish the authors had included some background on its history They offer some nice insights but it s not a book I would recommend to those serious about growing in faith It was a little confusing at times to remember who was speaking I appreciated the personal stories about their lives but the writing did not flow well I also found the cover unattractive There was nothing about that was feminine or appealing Perhaps future materials from t [...]

    8. Encouraging, uplifting, heart touchingI decided to read this book because I just recently discovered the She Reads Truth app for my iPad and have begun the plan for reading through the Bible in a year I wanted to know about the women behind the app I found it a little hard to get into the book I wasn t sure if I was going to like these two young women who were opening their lives to me, sharing their shortcomings and struggles, and at the same time lecturing me on what is permanent and worth pur [...]

    9. I ve loved anything SRT has put out in the past and have been a devoted user of the app for years, so I was very excited to get the opportunity to read this book Myers and Williams tell wonderful stories and I loved the intimacy they wrote with and how they associated the various life experiences with very encouraging Scripture passages Although it was an easy read, I did find myself getting lost toward the end of the book I didn t feel there was a major overlying theme to the book as a whole an [...]

    10. I m giving this four stars not because it was one of the best books I ve read, but because for its genre, I think it is in the top I ve read a lot of women s devotion or drawing near to God type books and while usually they re fine, they are almost always saccharine sweet and heavy on the emotion This is super annoying to me I don t mind women sharing their stories and sometimes there are a lot of emotions involved and that s fine, as long as that s not the point of the story Also, so many books [...]

    11. I enjoyed this book it includes the story of the two women behind the She Reads Truth ministry If you are not familiar with their studies, check them out at shereadstruth this is NOT a paid advertisement The Bible studies focus on God s Word they do not include commentary in the workbooks, only the scripture The women reveal ways they have trusted God through heart wrenching situations and life s challenges, and encourage the readers to rely on God s Word A great read for anyone who wants to lea [...]

    12. That is our hope Not that things will work out for our benefit, not that our lives will look the way we wanted, and not that we would be spared from suffering Our hope is in the One who has never failed to fulfill His promises to us We hope in the One who has only ever been faithful in our own lives and since the beginning of time Our hope is in God alone.

    13. I loved the abundance of truth in this book I also just loved getting to really know Raechel and Amanda s hearts now their devotionals will be even relatable to me Which is my favorite thing about SRT it s for all of us Not just moms, not just grown ups or pastors wives or missionaries Any woman can read it and know God is faithful.

    14. Sorry, but this book just didn t do it for me I felt like I got it in the first chapter and then it was just overly repetitive I know a number of women who have read it and really enjoyed the book, but it was a struggle for me.

    15. This is a great book It puts a different prespective on living in todays world and how we can get so stressed over things that just dont really matter in the end Definately would recommend to friends to read and re read once a year.

    16. Really liked this Not at all what I thought it was going to be I loved the personal stories and each author is such a good writer The way the sentences were crafted and each chapter ended up with Truth but not in a formula sort of way was very enjoyable Lots to chew on.

    17. I won this book by FB posts several months ago Oh my It is wonderful and only sorry I did not read it sooner Thank you, Raechel Myers Amanda Bible Williams, for your book which reminds us to look Up Truth is always there and that you can depend no matter what Thank you, Jesus

    18. 3.5 stars because it lacked a central premise cohesiveness but I really did enjoy this short book which is basically made up of essays about the faith journeys of the she read truth founders I would ve liked if it included a bit of how they started.

    19. I love all the She Read Truth items especially the Bible and the app This book talks about normal day to day things that occur that everyone faces It also incorporates biblePassages to go along with each story and life experiences that each author has faced in their life

    20. I love the She Reads Truth ministry In this book, Raechel and Amanda shift between their stories seamlessly They re vulnerability gave me a new perspective on God s grace and challenged me to keep my eyes on eternity.

    21. Women need to read this book Chapters would come just as needed then Steeped in the Truth and pushing as back to the Word each time Read it

    22. Such an incredible book, with beautiful verses and stories sprinkled throughout Amanda and Raechel poured their heart and soul into this book, and it s evident by the love of Jesus that shines through.

    23. I love when author s integrate the word of God seamlessly into their writing, not just telling an anecdotal incident of God in their lives but showing how it connects to the Truth of God s word.
