So dang good A constantly inspiring story of a union that, even though it eventually declined like the rest of the labor movement, didn t go the route of so many of the CIO unions that started as strong fighters in the 1930s and 40s but quickly ended up bureaucratized, conservative, and defanged.

    2. A very detailed academic history of the meatpacking industry in the USA I read it for an article I was writing about the life and work of Addie Wyatt, one od the leaders of the united Packinghouse Workers of America UPWA and later the United Food and Commercial Workers UFCW The book was especially useful for understanding the changing economics of the meat industry and ts account of the UPWA, a radical militant union in its heyday.
