    1. 4 solid Beauty and the Beast starsThe Perils of Pursuing a Prince is the second book in the Desperate Debutantes Trilogy and a fun, romantic, sexy tale It was my first taste of Julia London s writing as well as my first listen of Anne Flosnik s narrating, and I enjoyed both very much DescriptionLady Greer Fairchild hopes to avoid guardian Lord Downey s plan of marriage to the first bidder by seeking her distant inheritance, controlled by Rhodrick Glendower, Earl of Radnor, Prince of Powys Overly [...]

    2. I m huge fan of Beauty and the Beast tales, and this one was a perfect example of this theme Adding to the fact that Julia London is a favorite author of mine, it isn t a surprise that I ended loving this.Greer goes to Wales to find her late uncle and persuade him to sign over her inheritance, modest as it may be In her trip there she meets Mr Percy who convinces her to go on, even when her companion dies and she discovers that her uncle is dead Together they arrive at the Prince s of Powys cast [...]

    3. This is the tale of a very naive ninnyhammer who travels from London to Wales to demand her inheritance from an uncle who received the inheritance from her father, who had no male heirs That uncle is now dead and the inheritance has been transferred to the man known locally as the Prince of Powys The Prince is also the uncle of the man with whom Phoebe, the ninnyhammer, traveled alone for the last part of her trip her female companion had died mysteriously shortly after Percy joined them , in a [...]

    4. The first sentence of the novel as an example for thr brilliant writing style Julia London possesses For some inexplicable reason, the first thing that occurred to Greer Fairchild when three men robbers, for all she knew stopped the coach in which she and Mr Percy were traveling was that the death of Mrs Smithington, to whom Greer was a traveling companion, was not only tragic, but extremely inconvenient Just four stars because the attitude of Greer, the heroine, was than confusing at the begin [...]

    5. 2.5 stars Hum The plot was mainly was okay, but the main female character, Greer, was a so annoying and lacked common sense She was a supposed to be very clever, but all of her actions depicted her as a silly debutante.I would have given the book 2 stars if it weren t for her male counterpart, Rhodrick a.k.a The Prince Even though he keeps being described as ugly during the whole book which is truly annoying I mean once it s said, we get it , I found him so manly, and quite endearing.Anyway, I h [...]

    6. I could easily have given this book two stars, the only saving grace of this book was the male mc, Rhodrick, who is utterly adorable The female mc, Geer, was so fucking annoying and in my opinion didn t deserve him.So, in the previous book we learned that Greer travelled to seek her Welsh inheritance On the way she met Mr Percy, in the beginning of this book, we learn that Greer s elderly traveling companion has died and she has been convinced by Mr Percy to continue her mission, without a chape [...]

    7. I really, really, really wanted to like this one.The Prince wasn t perfect in his appearance and I found that pretty intriguing because as you know their usually always perfect knight and shining armors, but other than that his personality was as entertaining as watching paint dry harsh I know Greer the main gal just grated on my last nerve with all her so called innocence and naivety, I honestly couldn t stomach another page of her if I had too, and after spending the day trying to like this bo [...]

    8. Bleah Greer seems to be an idiot and I think I ll get sick of reading about her Also, I hate books that exclude the hero s POV Really hope my two Laura Lee Guhrke novels show up early tomorrow

    9. Book 2 in Julia London s Desperate Debutantes series.I found this review on and thought it was particularly good Greer arrives in Wales thinking she is finally about to locate her much needed inheritance only to find that instead her money has been given away to Rhodrick Glendower, Earl of Radnor and the Prince of Powys Greer s traveling companion, Owen Percy, who claims Rhodrick has also stolen his inheritance, convinces Greer to accompany him to the Prince of Powys estate, where they will dema [...]

    10. I have to agree with the reviewer who called Greer, the heroine, a ninnyhammer She was a most irritating, annoying character, who was so naive and insistent on her own misguided assumptions that she bordered on TSTL This is the second book in a trilogy, about Greer, and her two cousins who are sisters In the first book of the trilogy, Greer is considered the smartest of the three, and is sought out at society events as a partner at cards and games because she is such a good strategist Well, none [...]

    11. Oh my I haven t finished the book yet but it is sorely getting on my nerves Greer is such a shrew It wouldn t be so bad if it were not her supposed personality She was supposed to be smart and levelheaded Instead, she clings into this con artist and doesn t even question him Despite all the evidences and warnings, she ignores them and plows on Because of her supposed shrewdness, I expected her to catch on to his games and face facts However, she stubbornly holds onto the belief that he is all th [...]

    12. This is actually a Welsh historical as opposed to English Set in the 1820s, Greer Fairchild is stuck at the remote Welsh home of Rhodrick Glendower, known as The Prince He s uncertain if she s come to defraud him or truely belongs but soon doesn t want to let her go, and Greer finds herself fascinated with Wales and with Rhordrick. It s a plot line oft used in historical romances but never felt hackneyed at all I was sucked into the characters and the story from the beginning I enjoyed how the au [...]

    13. Julia London is a great storyteller Enjoyed the unique setting of this book as it takes place in Wales in an old castle I have ready many historical romances but very few with a Welsh flavor A little experience of the Welsh language even It perked my interest in the history of Wales itself The romance is rather unique also in that the hero is not your typical handsome, sure of himself, dashing gentleman That s not to say his personality isn t Big because he certainly dominates the story The hero [...]

    14. Recently, an unknown someone dumped a bunch of bodice rippers on the back counter at work with a sign free books Not being one to pass up free books, I looked through the stack and grabbed a bunch I m definitely still stuck on a never ending YA kick, but these make a nice diversion And some are definitely better than others This one was okay Greer sets off to discover if she can claim any of her deceased father s inheritance since he fathered no sons Instead she discovers a hermit of sorts who h [...]

    15. It s a good thing this book had an interesting storyline and hero Without that, it would have easily been a one star book Why Well, that would be because of the heroine, Greer What a twit Actually, that s not the word I want to use to describe her, but I ll keep this review PG She was supposed to be witty and clever I found her stupid, shallow, annoying and whiny I really liked Rhoderick though He deserved much better My rating is mostly based on him The plot was interesting and unique enough th [...]

    16. Greer really is a nitwit She s supposed to be the smartest of the three Fairchilds and yet she believed the words of a moral less playboy con man without questioning his story or why he was helping her It s really hard to like a heroine who is purported to be quite smart and logical yet, turns out to be a totally lacking I m going to go ahead and finish the last book of the trilogy, but I m seriously doubting if I ll ever read another Julia London She keeps making mistakes with the time period W [...]

    18. The hero was nice The heroine so so, especially in the first part, when she seems to be dwindling between the hero and his much hated cousin.

    19. 2.5 stars but got 3 because I like the first book in the series The other two books disappointed me but this is probably the worst The supernatural part of the book didn t feel right and the romance felt uninspired.

    20. Another great story Loved this second book in series It had a little mystery but the tension and then love between greer and rhoderick was awesome

    21. Redonk Nutshell Naive down on her luck heroine is stuck staying at the Earl of Radnor s Gothic Wales home becomes entranced by his haunted yet tender natureI have and will always be a fan of Gothic fiction Something about dark castles, haunted heroes and ridiculous heroines always manages to bring a smile to my face It makes me feel likewell, autumn Like cracking the windows on a windy brisk day, climbing beneath a blanket with a good enthralling Gothic book and a cup of tea Heaven The Perils of [...]

    22. Ugh This is not the type of romance I generally read, but it was recommended to me so I gave it a try and I did not enjoy it Greer is ridiculously distractable, unintelligent, and doesn t learn from past mistakes The author tells you she s smart and interested in politics etc that women of her time usually weren t, yet constantly shows you that she s almost the exact opposite Rhodrick is not terribly likeable either view spoiler and when, at one point upon seeing Greer being kissed and felt up b [...]

    23. I would have given this story 3 stars if there had been an option The only reason I didn t give it a lower rating is that I applaud Ms London for giving us such a flawed hero Rhodrick Glendower is not the usual handsome and perfect man that we find in so many of these stories He is color blind and has a limp and a prominent scar on his face He is plain and than a little self conscious of his size He has been teased by everyone, including his family, about his looks and size most of life Through [...]

    24. The second book in the desperate debutantes series Although I don t agree with the debutante title as the girls are in their early twenties and could be considered on the shelf Miss Greer Fairchild is mentioned in the first book The Hazards of Hunting a Duke as she is already on her journey to Wales to find her inheritance and her long lost past and there are mentions of her letters We start off with her finally arriving at Llanmair, Wales to the residence of Earl of Radnor who has taken possess [...]

    25. Greer is also in danger of being forced into marrying whoever asks When her aunt died, she was in danger because she was not a daughter So she decides to track down family because she should be her father s heir and with whatever money she can get, she can lead her own life Unfortunately when she meets the prince who has her inheritance she is in the company of a man that he detests All issues are resolved and romance ensues This leaves only Phoebe unmarried.
